Selecting a major and exploring careers might seem overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. If you need help understanding how your interests will play a part in your future, take CHOMP, our Career Help or Major Planning tool. With CHOMP you can explore potential majors and careers through the convenience of this online tool.
What is CHOMP?
CHOMP is an online, interactive, self-guided career and educational planning system designed to help you make decisions about your future career goals and education plans.
CHOMP is powered by Focus 2, a web based major and career exploration tool that offers a variety of self-assessments in order to evaluate your level of career readiness and gain self-awareness in the areas of work interests, values, personality, skills, and leisure interests. You are also able to explore majors and occupations related to these different dimensions of self and how different majors at UF may connect to careers.
Remember that assessments are just one piece of the puzzle when it comes to figuring out your major and career options. You can make an individual Career Planning Appointment to better understand your assessment results and how you can use them to make more informed career decisions.
I'm a rising junior advertising major, and once upon a time I was an accounting major. I realized accounting really wasn't for me so I declared myself exploratory. I ended up going to the Career Connections Center, and the recommended that I take CHOMP. I did. I found it to be very comprehensive, it aligns your values with different industries. One of the recommendations that I explore advertising, and now I'm here in that major, which I really enjoy. I recommend this resource for all students.”
