Five Ways First and Second Year UF Students Can Develop Their Leadership Style
As a first or second year student it can be hard to imagine how you need to start preparing for leadership and professional opportunities on and off campus. With campus leadership positions at your reach and internships on the horizon, it’s never too early to discover how to maximize that potential.
We created the Career Success Institute (CSI) for students like you. CSI is a program designed to help you develop your sense of self as it relates to your future opportunities and leadership development. Not finding and developing a leadership style could be a potential crime scene to your career if you aren’t prepared. Here are five reasons to apply to CSI.
1. Leadership Experience
Let’s be real, we all know you don’t want to be the underdog forever. But in order to be a boss, you have to act like one and you can’t do that without obtaining experience as a leader.
2. Working with a Diverse Team
No matter what industry you’re going into, you are bound to meet and work with people from all walks of life. It is crucial that you not only know how to work beside them but know how to gather your experiences and talents in the name of success.
3. Develop Your Resume/Cover Letter for Future Opportunities
Developing and fixing your resume can be one the most frustrating things ever, but it doesn’t have to be that way! The staff at the Career Connections Center are fully trained and equipped to not only help with your resume but to highlight your best skills and experiences that will leave any recruiter saying “this is who we are looking for.”
4. Creating and Marketing Your Professional Brand On and Off Campus
It’s so important to know how to promote the experiences you are getting now to land a job in the real world. In order to knock it out of the park, you need to know who you are and what your brand is. How else can you successfully take over the world?
5. Develop Insight about Yourself through Career and Leadership Assessments
Before others are able to see you for what you are, you’ll need to figure yourself out first. Through various assessments like quizzes and activities, CSI will help you gain insight about yourself that will help propel you into a successful career.
